Ideas and Future Plans
23/04/19
I have been thinking of ideas to (try and) implement into this game development, and luckily the people of Reddit have helped massively. People seem to want a game which isn't randomly generated per say, but a well thought out puzzle game - such as finding keys, solving clues etc - all while being chased by something(one). I like this idea mainly because it's a lot less coding and stress on my end. With this idea out of the way, I can start modelling and sketching designs for this game - such as floor plans, rooms plans and the actual puzzles - may need some inspiration from other Redditors with VR in /vive.
However, there are 3 massive hurdles before I can start marketing this game - exams, work and Camp America - all of which last from May - August. Developing in this period will be paused because I will be working in America for 2 months - yikes! Although, I was suggesting to promote this game with other YouTubers and possibly creating a Patreon just to help with 3D modelling, scripting and animations - as I suck at modelling. Who knows, this could be start of something bigger! Doubt it.
Anyway, here is my 2 week plan, starting the 28/04/19:
- Start 3D modelling for items, such as doors, cabinets, torches, lighters and matches
- Fix collision and leaning
- Create a scene which I can showcase (volumetric lighting, fog, silhouette of character and title for game, still WIP (although I like "High Rise"))
- Introduce a grabbing mechanic using VRExpansion
- Sprinting feature
- Post Processing
- Start screen
I want these features to be finished by 14/04/19 maybe a little bit longer. Also, may create a subreddit just because I can see who's actually interested in this game - even if it's just 10 people. Ideally I'd like this game to be released end of 2019 maybe sooner.
