HMD Development and Collisions
22/04/19 Day 2: creating collisions for HMD, installed VRExpansion and created thumbpad movement - fixing issues
I have fixed the collision mistake which allowed the player to stick their head through walls using room scale movement - fixed by using a plugin and possessing a pawn. Players now cannot look through walls and can still lean over objects (but still glitchy, need to raise the collision mesh towards the camera and make it a parent).
Talked to the creator of VRExpansion (matlaw I think) and he gave me tips and tricks with the plugins. Starting to plan out how I can add hand models onto motion controllers
for a more immersive experience. I will also be working on a 3D model for the flat, working on floor design and creating puzzles.
Plans for next time, hopefully, this week and all through next week:
- add hand models correctly placed onto hand models
- create a workable drawer/cabinet using physics and stoppers
Once this project gets screenshots, models and an overall good feel I'll make a subreddit and start gaining some hype.
